Have you ever sat down on a toilet seat only to realize that it is just barely attached to the toilet? It is not a pleasant feeling, but if this happens in your home, you could take care of the problem yourself. It is fairly simple to install a toilet seat, and even if it is firmly attached, it could just be time to replace an old, stained or discolored toilet seat.

You will find that the attachment of toilet seats is fairly universal, with the only exception of elongated seats. If you have an elongated seat, you need to make sure that you purchase the appropriate replacement seat or you will have a very odd looking toilet.

It can sometimes be tricky to expose the bolts that hold the seat in place since many manufacturer’s will put them underneath a plastic cover that needs to be popped off before the bolts can be removed.

Whenever working with something that is made from porcelain, you need to be careful not to overtighten bolts since this could crack the porcelain.
