Are preparing to sell your home? Do you have pets? Then you may want to work to get rid of the pet odors before you list.
You may say “What pet odors? I don’t have any odor in my home.” Even though we may feel that way, some buyers are more sensitive than we may be, and losing potential clients because of a pet odor is not fun. So what can you do?
One of the easiest and fastest things you can do is get a professional to perform ozone treatment. While this can be effective most of the time, there are times where it isn’t very effective. Also, it can be several hundred dollars or more depending on the size of your home.
Another option is to clean all the hard surfaces, re-painting the walls and other surfaces, and most importantly – get your ductwork cleaned.
The ductwork tends to be the most important part of that equation. Because ductwork moves air, pet dander and odors tend to get “stuck” in there, and then gets spread throughout the home.
All-in-all though, pet odor is manageable. Even if you don’t smell anything yourself, you should ask the advice of others, especially your agent.
